Just wanted to make a quick post to let you know I'm alive! As you probably already know, tornados hit the SouthEast with massive damage. I hid in the closet with my most precious treasure for thirty of the scariest moments of my life. Colton told me later that he prayed for God to put a shield around our house and evidently he was listening. My home escaped with only some (huge) trees falling in the yard, but my sister's neighborhood was devastated. Please pray for her and my nephew. The house is still standing, but with major damage and I am sure it will need to be rebuilt from the ground up. We are very thankful, humbled and grateful for our entire family to escape with their lives. Here in my county alone, nine precious lives were taken by the storms.
We are still without power and it could be up to three weeks before it is restored. I am using a friend's computer (thanks, Tess). Thank goodness I have a gas hot water heater, so we can shower. My cooking skills on the grill are improving with trial and error...lots of error. :-) The restaurants around us stay too packed to even try to get into.
If you know anyone that has lost their home or had any damage from the storms, even the simplest act can help. Offer them a gift card for restaurants or a couple of hours at your house to take hot showers, do laundry or charge their phones. It's just the simple things that you take for granted.
I'm going to post a couple of pictures. The first is showing Colton beside one of the gigantic trees that went down in my yard. The second is a picture of my sister's neighborhood.
